"I am afraid to forget. I do not want to forget anything."

you know what’s a really shitty feeling? when you’re in a new place with new people, and someone starts talking to you because you’re the only girl in the room at the moment. he’s charming and he’s sweet and really funny and makes you feel like he’s really paying attention to you. then in comes a really stunning girl and he decides he’s going to make her his new friend instead. the two of you stop speaking. he’s no longer interested in conversing with you. from then on, if you want to get his attention at all you have to keep calling and calling his name, and when he finally turns, he hears you without listening to you and looks at you without seeing you. it’s like the presence of someone really beautiful makes everyone else’s existence instantly irrelevant. this happens to me way more often than I’m comfortable with.

and people wonder how women grow up with such low self-esteem.

Minor White, Matchstick Cove, San Mateo County, California, 1947
From the Cleveland Museum of Art:

A leading advocate for the expressive powers of photography, White transformed everyday experiences into sublime statements, even in small images such as this sharply focused contact print. The elevated vantage point and expansive vista greatly reduce the sense of scale, leaving a carefully selected, abstracted detail of a favorite subject—-the meeting of tidal waves and rugged cliffs on the California coast. The exquisite tonal values convey the subtly shifting effects of light and atmosphere. A bank of fog rolling in from the ocean both defines and softens the jagged contours of the landscape. The absence of a transition between the surging sea and the towering bluffs leaves little room for human presence, and the image becomes a metaphor for isolation and loneliness. White, known for his complex and romantic writing style, once explained that “the photograph acts as a symbol…for something that is beyond the subject photographed.”
Woman: I'm smart
Patriarchy: Well you're probably ugly then
Woman: I'm creative
Patriarchy: You mean unattractive right?
Woman: I have all these incredible accomplishments
Patriarchy: Yeah but look how ugly you looked doing them
Woman: I have value
Patriarchy: Not if you're ugly lol
Woman: I'm conventionally-attractive & posted selfies on my blog
Patriarchy: I'm so sick of these empty-headed chicks only caring about their looks. Just because you are attractive and get attention from men doesn't mean you are special or deserve respect. Why don't you read a book or do something productive with your life you dumb slut
